Comment of Data Logging, Simulation and Modelling
Data logging, simulation and modelling can help students understand better in the topics and make the learning process become interesting and attractive.
- Data logging is a technology which help students to conduct the experiments more efficient by using data logger device so that the students understand about the significant of data logger in order to get more accurate result and help a lot of data collection. Experiment that involved the release of gas also can be calculated easier. At enhance stage, students can improve their thinking and memorising when answering the tough questions. They can apply their knowledge based on data logger that have been done. This is to ensure the students are active in class especially with data logging learning process.
- For simulation, students will be more attracted to the topic teached by teachers as the lesson are more interesting showing colourful moving diagram that help they memorize well on the topic. Students will be more understand based on simulation shown by teachers as the simulation could be pause to allow teachers explaining the process while showing the paused diagram. Teachers also may explain step by step clearly. This will help students understand and remember better the topic. Simulation also can show the process that students cannot imagine and see by their naked eyes. Therefore, students will be more understand on the process even they cannot see by their naked eyes. Simulation help the teachers to give the review about the topics and easier teacher to conclude regarding the topics.
- For modelling, the lesson will be more attractive which students could see the changes in variable of certain experiment clearly. Teachers may change the variable by themselves and show the students the effects on the experiment. This will let students understand better on the topic.
- There are some problems integrating the use of data logging, simulation and modelling. The main problem is when the teachers did not know how to use and handle the programs properly. Then, when the teachers make a mistake when using the technology, they are easy to give up and did not want to use it again. The difficulties of teachers in handling this device affect the student’s interest to learn the topics.
- There are some suggestion to solve the following problems. First, all teachers need to learn on how to use the technology correctly and wisely. Teachers must competent in handling all tools to improve the learning process so that the students can get benefits and attracted. Interest on using the technology also have to be put on teachers to make sure they are not give up to use it.
Values and Difficulties
- The values are the teaching and learning process will be done more efficiently which students will learn better, understand better and work with it better.
- The teaching and learning process also will become more interesting toward the teachers and students.
- Students will be more attracted to education.
- Difficulties during the implementation of this model more towards the teacher as the teachers are the important person to handle this well.
- Teachers must know how to elicit the student knowledge about the topics using engage model.
- Teachers cannot make mistakes which may influenced students thinkings and make them confused. If the students cannot understand the engage’s question, situation or pictures that teachers provided, then teacher get trouble to correct the students thinking.
- Teachers are responsible to make sure the students’ misconception on the topic.
- teacher must know how to use the data logger correctly and properly to ensure that there are no problem in teaching to students.
